I think I fall in love more and more with these two the more I see them. You know, besides as Gaeta and Dee. Another episode of Jeremiah last night was a bit Kurdy/Elizabeth-centric (Kandyse plays Elizabeth). I really hoped it wouldn't come to that, because Kurdy is rough and unpolished--a highly unlikely mate for her. But it happened, and in the most cheesiest, cliche way. It worked though.

More on Kurdy/Elizabeth )

There are now three Kandyses(or Kandyass which you can thank [info]ingrid_m for): the delicate, young yet strong-willed one; the ohmigawd biggest bitch best friend one and the one that's a shell of a person right now on BSG. She's very versatile in her acting, which is good. I think I first saw her on  The Outer Limits and then on that remake of Carrie as Sue Snell. Tiffany still calls her SueSnell in one word whenever I can get her to watch BSG. Sue Snell was a bitch indeed, even if she redeemed herself at the end. Bah.

Aww, Kandyse. Why you so pretty?

From recent conversations with artamora :

I want to write better I have ideas but crap comes out.  I need a Nazi teacher to thwack me with a ruler when I write garbage and spit in mah face, crumple up the paper and call me an imbecile.

O what's a girl to do? Yesterday, I got up and impulsively went to the b&n in Downtown Brooklyn and searched for books on writing. I didn't go cold, I made a list before I left the house. Unfortunately, I only found one from the list (the section was a thin strip of a bookcase). But there was another, 3 a.m. Epiphany that is just as good. Suffice to say, I should not go to b&n when I am down/broke/hungry/lonely. I left with four books that bit a chunk out of my Tarjay monedas.

From there I headed to the Bklyn Promenade to enjoy my purchases. It was breezy, the sun wasn't out. I people-watched as I delved into Iron Sunrise by Charles Stross. Supposably it's "a Hollywood thriller with a cyberpunk heart" according to someone at Entertainment Weekly. After awhile, I began one of the writing books and did an exercise. I wrote and wrote until I had no space on the one sheet of paper I had with me. I loved being out there, against the wind, looking over the river and the Bklyn Bridge at my right. I kept smiling; I wanted people to envy my joy, if only for the moment. Then the sun came out. I was at its mercy, being burnt up like toast left too long under the broiler. I didn't want to go home, I wanted to stay there forever. It's the one part of Brooklyn doesn't feel closed in, dirty or poor. tears choke me up as I type this, because that feeling, I may never have again and I'm gonna miss here.

Hobbits dancing on tables! Hobbits dancing on tables! Quick distraction so I don't end up bawling like it's going out of style. LoTR is funny cos Philipa Boyens and Peter Jackson made it that way, I mean differently from the novel. My favorite line is when Gollum is having one of his many freakouts, talking to himself and he says, "Master is our friend." And his other self snarls, "You don't have any friends." That does it for me. That kind of evil is priceless. A close second is Sam's enunciation of potatoes when Gollum asks him what they are. But you know I can't stand that whiny, needing twit Sam (as played by Sean Astin, grrr). Liked him better in the book.

I'm off to sleep or find sustenance, whichever wins the dance-off. Ta-ta.

I, in frustration, shat on the Buffyverse community. Although I was engrossed in it from beginning to end, I wasn't a fan-fan. I was lax during the Dawn-is-the-key period and after Jasmine came on Angel, I ran tail. It just didn't make sense. I wasn't looking for an indepth exploration of underlying philosophies, I wanted teen angst and prettiness like the beginning (Buffy anyway). Angel just got tired because a lot of his exploits turned to self-gratification instead of brooding and being good in a hateful world. He lost something, 'round about the time he gained a son.

Iunno why I'm going on about this. I'm supposed to type the new things developing in my novella. Last night I got my Llewellyn catalogue with all the new Pagan books being published. I'm thinking of incorporating magic into the tale. Not having them have powers per se but ritually being magical. Confusing, I know but it all makes sense to me.

I can understand things in parts but not wholes so that's why it's easier to analyze them. I can't (or won't) see the entire picture until I can break it down. Isn't there a disorder like that? I focus on details and disregard the whole until the details make the whole.

I got gripes, I gotta get outta my head before I explode:

1. WHY are people demasculating Wash? Just cos he's married to Warrior Woman doesn't  mean he falls apart like a blubbering jellyfish. He's actually very strong.

2. Sarah Jessica Parker better NOT be on campus today blocking all of the entrances to bldgs. That heifa has been shutting my college down for weeks now for her Vermont movie and it's getting annoying. And just cos Princeton Review called it the most beautiful urban campus and the "Best bang for your buck" doesn't make it alright for skinny women to descend and make chickflicks on our property during our school time. Gah!

3. And geezalou! Kara and Baltar? I saw it before when I wasn't interested and it made no sense and now it's just gross. Baltar has toaster sex (and I'm being juvenile because I can so there).

4. The SG: Atlantis team is very Brave New World(?) maybe it's colonial. I saw the episode with the kids who kill themselves at 24 and the one about the drug that gives Wraith resistance to humanoids. They act all high and mighty because they have technology and ruin shit for everybody! Yar!

Addendum: I blame [info]rawles for making me watch BSG and love it when I have no business getting into another scifi show! Damn you woman! Thanks.

PS: I can't stand Joss Whedon, but that's already known. I have posts about him on my OD and here (a few back). But today especially because he's going on VMars and it's bringing those Buffy/Angel ppl over.

Hey, I was a fan of both for years, but just cos it's popular doesn't mean it's worthy of munificent praise. At times it was about the PWK syndrome which is kinda racist but it's the only way to categorize it.

I savor this like a morsel of gelatinous sustenance because this is how I feel about Joss Whedon:

BC Fact 48: In March 1958 Jack Kerouac visited the campus as guest of Nocturne, the literary magazine of the evening session, to lecture on his recently published novel, On The Road. Kerouac—according to jazz composer David Amran’s memoir, Offbeat: Collaborating with Kerouac (2003)— antagonized the students with his inebriated antics, leading one to ask, “How come I love your books and the characters in your books and I hate you?”

Even in the face of opposition he still manages to be real and let that girl know that he's in it for the bagging of the panties. He never denied it. I ask why is he doing V's job? I mean apart from the potential panty baggage?

I have given VMars the benefit of the doubt and I did watch with some of the fervor I came to embrace way back in May, April, January. I just thought, there's a lot of impulses going on in and around Neptune and no one's thinking anymore. I do kinda still hate V for giving into the we-need-a-boyfriend-to-complete-us gang but I'll survive. She has to do her. I'm not Veronica Mars. I can't tell her shit to do. That's the writers' job. And her job.

I do have to say that I love that OJP, Logan more than I ever did. I always didn't like him (as opposed to not caring for Duncan, who I can take or leave). The quips that boy kept shooting out made me giggle, snarkle, sniggle and guffaw. He does have dimensions that one, I'm waiting to see where else he takes this. Yeah, and I don't care for relationships unless it involves Wallace finally getting some play and V not saying whack West Coast (I wanna say whitey but I know it's wrong) slang that makes him smile quaintly though I know he wants to hit her. I've seen the look, I've given the look, not everyone that's not Americana thinks it's cute. Not all of us appreciate the "my brotha", "gurlfriend" and the "word" vernacular.

One day, Wallace, one day. I know we will show V you're not just an accessory. You already called it on the marshmallow bit, showed you had a brain behind the Afro. And you have a black momma. Everyone needs one of those at some point in their lives. Might change the world.

You scored as Zoe Alleyne Washburne. The Soldier. You are the second in command, and that is fine. You like a chain of command, but only when the one in charge has earnt your respect. Those who earn your love or loyalty will find no one better to guard their back.

Which Serenity character are you?

So I went to the movies Saturday. All by myself. I went to the Loews on 19th and Bway at 10 am, it was quiet. One for Everything is Illuminated. The movie was great. Initially I had no inkling as what to expect because the book was too much of a good thing to make into a flick, but it worked.

Elwood did a good job but the dude playing Alex was better. He had so much depth for a one dimensional character. It was soo good being out of the house, away from the sickness dripping from the apt. I went to Applebee's and got riblets and tore 'em up.

I had some weird dreams that involved rent, my "friends" and my sister. Guess I've been trynna work things out on the inside. But I feel so good having taken time out for myself to enjoy something.

Your World View
You are a fairly broadminded romantic and reasonably content. You value kindness and try to live by your ideals. You have strong need for security, which may be either emotional or material. You respect truth and are flexible. You like people, and they can readily make friends with you. You are not very adventurous, but this does not bother you.
7th-Sep-2005 01:10 pm - NO SERENITY!!!!!

I am not a hollow reed. Screw that serenity shit.

Pun, play on words, yes . . . I thought Serenity #3 was supposed to come out today. It is Woden's Day isn't it?

Damn JW and his evil ways.

In exploring more of Monster Zero I've decided maybe I should do a spin off (of an undebuted show, yes I am aware). It might be the only way to keep shit succint and my character library at a minimum.

My main protagonist Kaj is going to exit the show. I must keep him busy in his absence, right? Up crops the spin-off yet to be titled.

I must be the only one is the world who doesn't give a shit about River Tam. She's a good character but the crazy bit is just ugh! Come on, I'm not a Joss Whedon fan either but I enjoy his work. He's like the people who created CSI: Miami (Jerry Bruckheimer, i believe). They do good stuff, innovative but nothing to obsess over the fact he or she is the greatest thing in the world since shoes.
