They didn't yank my rotten teeth out, yeesh. Not yet anyway. I had a deep cleaning and they took care of one of my cavities at the dentist today. The damage? About a hundred and fifteen bucks. Thank Heavens for healthcare.

Surprisingly, the cleaning hurt more than the filling. The hygenist had to dig in between teeth to muck out the gunk. My mouth attracts gross things. I need to floss more and under the gumline. Good thing I was shown how to do exactly that. I love my dental office. They treat me well.

In other news, I finished reading Hating Women by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach last week. Everyone needs to read it. I wish I could find the words to give it full justice but take everything you know about women--images, media, myths, truths--and forget you ever thought that way. We're hard-pressed to find positive female images anywhere without some tainting of minor disrespect of women as a whole. Little things we think nothing of contribute to this. I'm rambling but read this book.

Nevertheless I must write about the POC acknowledgment(ie. recognizing another person of color and making it your business to let them know you see them).

Also, I need to discuss my slightly prejudiced views about dating Guy who is POC. Yeah, I went there.

I am tired and need my MacGyver fix.

That label has certain definitions that I wouldn't be able to understand the way feminists would want me to. With that in mind, it always irritates me when I see a photo of a woman sans a body part. Something's just wrong about it. What I mean is, if there's a woman with her eyes blocked out or her mouth covered or limbs missing for "artistic reasons" I get annoyed. It's blatant sexism. Hardly is there male "art" with the same thing from what I've seen.

I'm not about censure. I'm saying it bugs me. That is all.

This links into my feelings on women in the BSG series because, I do think it is a bit of joke at times. Traditional roles shine through the female empowerment. But I'm not about to get into that discussion.

Let it be known, I am the biggest music whore. If there's an mp3 up for grabs, I'm gonna snag it. Cos I like to listen to a lot, pick out what I don't like and what I do.

iTunes is the devil. I mean it. What kind of fuckery is it to create a file type that only allows for playback on iTunes specific devices? I've heard of this a long time ago, they called it monopolizing. People have found ways around the anti-piracy locks on iTunes files, so there's one in the face to Jobs & Co. All of this trying not to let music be widely and illegally distributed is a waste of time.

I hear the arguments about artists getting their fair share of profits and I understand. If they have sole rights to their music, without all the middlepersons getting a cut, things might look better. It happened with doo-wop and street corner singers on the Motown era. Haven't they learned? If you can keep tight reins on your finances, you can afford the inevitable, nominal profit loss. There are so many indie artists and labels who make a living off their non-specially coded mp3s on the internets. Some have loyal fans. They believe what they do benefits everyone, because since happy fans are loyal fans, they'll come back. And they live within their means.   

This sounded so much better in my head.

So, I finally brought my Chronicles of Narnia book up from the basement. Maybe I'll try to finish it. It's so heavy.

I am convinced I'm allergic to everything now. On two occasions yesterday I got that tingle of I'm-gonna-break-out-in-hives: once when a delivery came from Pax, a restaurant and another when I ventured into Victoria's Secret. But I always get itchy and irritable in Vickie's. The combination of too much perfume and the fact that I always end up needing a new bra size(usually larger) is the cause. For the most part, I can't stand any sort of fragranced anything or my neck starts to itch. I refuse to let my hair grow out because if so much as a hair touches the back of my neck, I'll start itching till Kingdom come. Had to change my deodorant because the scent made me ill. And I've noticed, the people I dislike I can associate an aroma that I also detest. Yeah, you'd think I was feral or something.


The death of Saddam Hussein is surreal. While I believe people need to pay for their wrongdoings, I don't think it's anyone's job to kill them for it. Allowing him to sit and live with the memory of his past actions would have been my choice. His hanging may make him a matyr in some eyes. I think it'll bring more harm than good.
